West Ham are looking to sign Juventus defender Estelle Cascarino in the January transfer window, according to reports.

She has 18 months remaining on her contract at Juve, having signed a new deal in February 2025 to keep her at the club until the summer of 2027.

However, the BBC is now following reports in Italy which indicate that Cascarino has now handed in a transfer request and hopes to secure a move to West Ham.

The media outlets in Italy are reporting that Cascarino is unhappy with her position at Juventus, as second choice behind Estela Carbonell for a left-back role she does not feel is her best fit.

She has also struggled with injury in recent months, coming back from an anterior cruciate ligament injury in her left knee sustained while on international duty at the end of 2024.

If the deal is finalised in the next week, as reports are suggesting it might be, it would be a return to the Barclays Women’s Super League for the 28-year-old, who spent six months on loan at Manchester United in 2023, making two appearances.

She has also played for Paris Saint-Germain, Bordeaux, Paris FC, and Lyon, making her debut for France in 2017.

New Hammers boss Rita Guarino – who was appointed just before the winter break – has previously coached Juventus as well as Inter.

Guarino replaced Rehanne Skinner in East London, with West Ham second from bottom of the WSL on five points, with one win to their credit so far this season. Despite having the worst goal difference in the league, on -15, they are two points ahead of bottom-placed Liverpool, who have yet to win.
