England’s 2-1 win over Republic of Ireland puts them within a point of qualifying for UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.

A draw away to Sweden in the final games next Tuesday will keep the Lionesses above their hosts in the group, sending them to the tournament in Switzerland.

The Lionesses were ahead in just the fifth minute, Beth Mead’s perfect short pass into the box seeing Alessia Russo round goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan and find the back of the net.

The scoreline was made a little more comfortable for England before the hour mark, Niamh Fahey dragging down Lauren Hemp in the penalty area and Georgia Stanway converting from the spot.
