A game of two halves but no goals in Sweden was enough for England to seal their qualification for UEFA Women’s EURO 2025.

The Lionesses had much more of the play in the first half but without forcing a save, Georgia Stanway involved all three times England went close.

Alessia Russo was so near to connecting with her cross in front of goal, an attempted clearance came off Stanway and clipped the angle of post and bar, before the Bayern Munich player shot narrowly wide.

Sweden came to life later in the half, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd not quite getting enough on a cross to the far post to direct it on goal.

Hannah Hampton made the game’s first save on 50 minutes, Filippa Angeldahl with a shot following a corner.

Stanway found the side-netting, Hampton repelled a corner at the second attempt with the Swedes now on top, also parrying a long-range Angeldahl strike and Lucy Bronze clearing the loose ball.
