England U-23s Hold USA

Head coach Marieanne Spacey made two changes to the side that defeated Sweden 4-0 on Tuesday, with Melissa Lawley and Millie Turner replacing Paige Williams and Molly Bartrip respectively.

Birmingham City’s Aoife Mannion captained the side for the second game in a row and put in a dominant performance at the back as both sides excelled defensively.

The result left England on top of the tournament table, goal-difference ahead of the Americans.

The Young Lionesses’ final match is against Norway on Monday.

The Norwegians went down 1-0 to hosts Sweden in Friday’s other match, Sofia Wännerdahl coming off the bench to score on 74 minutes, as her cross into the box beat everyone and ended up in the net.
