England U-19s Into Elite Stage

England defeated Wales 4-0 in Kazakhstan to secure a place in the UEFA U-19 Championship Elite Round with a game to spare.

England went ahead before the break against Wales, despite a half of very few chances.

Ella Toone’s short corner on minutes saw her leave two defenders for dead and fire home from the side of the box.

Seven minutes after the restart and Hollie Olding doubled the Young Lionesses’ lead.

It was 3-0 on 72 minutes, as Anna Filbey turned home after a Lois Joel assist from a free-kick and Lauren Hemp got the fourth goal when set up by Toone.

Lydia Bedford’s side finish up against Slovenia on Tuesday, who are three points ahead of Wales after beating Kazakhstan 4-0 today.

Wales will need to beat the hosts in their final game – and hope England also do them a favour – to have a chance of finishing in the top two and progressing on the road to Switzerland.
