England Qualify For U-17 EUROS

England hosted Italy this afternoon at St George’s Park, konwing a point would be good enough to seal top spot in their Elite Round group and therefore a place in the finals.

The first half remained tight and goalless and although the Young Lionesses rode their luck at times after the break, with Italy twice hitting the woodwork, the 0-0 draw confirmed England’s qualification for this summer’s U-17 EUROS in the Czech Republic.

Germany finish second in the group after a 4-0 defeat of Poland. First half efforts by Nicole Anyomi and Anna-Lena Stolze were added to by substitutes Marlene Shimmer and Lisa Ebert.

France, Norway, Republic of Ireland and Spain have also reached the finals, along with the hosts. There’s one more group to be decided, then the best runner-up to be determined.
