Viewing figures for the England vs Wales match at Women’s Euro 2025 averaged more than double the numbers for Chelsea’s Club World Cup final triumph on the same day.
The Lionesses booked their spot for the quarter-finals of Euro 2025 on Sunday afternoon, in a match that was shown live on ITV One.
Chelsea’s Club World Cup final clash with Paris Saint-Germain was also shown on free television on Channel 5.
Both games kicked off at the same time at 8pm (BST) on Sunday, July 20th.
England thrashed Wales 6-1 to reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2025, where they will play Sweden on Thursday night.
Chelsea’s men’s side pulled off somewhat of an upset, beating Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the Club World Cup final.

ITV confirmed that England vs Wales at Euro 2025 averaged 4.2 million in the viewing figures and peaked at 4.6m on ITV across all devices.
The coverage on TV channel ITV One averaged 2.9m viewers and peaked at 4.4m.
This is more than double the audience that tuned in to Channel 5 to watch Chelsea vs PSG.
The average viewing figure on Channel 5 was 1.1m, with a peak of 2.3m.
It showed that the Women’s Euro 2025 clash between England and Wales was the clear winner in the TV wars on Sunday night.
However, it should be pointed out that Channel 5’s viewership figures does not include those who streamed the game on DAZN.
Channel 5 showed 23 matches at the Club World Cup. DAZN showed every game during the tournament held in the United States.
