Leicester City have signed Emma Jansson from Damallsvenskan side FC Rosengard, subject to international clearance.
The 29-year-old midfielder has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and has joined the squad in training ahead of this weekend’s Barclays Women’s Super League January restart.
Speaking to Foxes Hub, Emma said: “I am really honoured and excited to start my journey here. I am looking forward meeting the fans and playing at King Power Stadium.
“I will always bring my everything to the club I’m playing for, so the supporters can expect that from me. The WSL is a great league and where all players want to play. I am happy to be here and happy to be here with Leicester.”
Jansson won two league titles with Rosengard, in 2022 and 2024. Able to play in the middle of the park as well as at the back, she has previously represented Hammarby IF, Eskilstuna United DFF, and KIF Orebro DFF, and has Sweden youth international honours to her credit.
Leicester City’s season so far
Leicester City travel to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, 11th January as they recommence their WSL campaign. They then face the same opponents at the same venue a week later in the fourth round of the Women’s FA Cup.
The Foxes currently sit ninth in the WSL table, on nine points, from two wins and three draws in their 11 games so far this season. They finished the first half of the season with a 1-0 win over London City Lionesses.
Shannon O’Brien scored the only goal of the game, just before the hour mark.
And goalkeeper Janina Leitzig saved a stoppage-time penalty to ensure the Foxes finished 2025 on a high.
In addition to the signing of Jansson, Leicester have also been linked with a move for long-serving Tottenham defender Ash Neville.
