Lionesses and Manchester City striker Ellen White has been voted the 2020-21 BT England Women’s Player of the Year.

White started the year with a hat-trick in England’s 6-0 victory over Northern Ireland.

Manchester City teammate and England captain Steph Houghton presented White with the trophy at England’s Southampton training base, where the squad are preparing for their first FIFA World Cup 2023 qualifying match against North Macedonia on Friday.

England fans voted for the 32-year-old striker ahead of her Manchester City teammate Alex Greenwood and Chelsea’s Bethany England, in second and third respectively.

Sarina Wiegman’s team face North Macedonia on Friday evening at St Mary’s Stadium [kick-off 7pm] and tickets are available on the day, priced at £15 for adults and £2.50 for children.

Voting open for 2021 Ladbrokes Northwest Football Awards
