East Fife stretch lead in Barclays Scottish Women’s Championship

East Fife have stretched their lead at the top of the Barclays Scottish Women’s Championship to six points, while second-placed Inverness Caledonian Thistle were held to a 1-1 draw by Dryburgh Athletic.

Teri Skivington scored a whopping eight goals in East Fife’s 21-1 rout of bottom side Hutchison Vale, also providing at least three assists in a dominant display that sent a clear signal of intent in her side’s push for promotion to the SWPL.

Dryburgh’s Kiah Irvine scored first in Dundee, with Inverness youngster Alex Whelan grabbing the equaliser from the edge of the box in the second half.

Stirling University remain third after a 3-0 home win against Morton, while Stenhousemuir move up into fourth with a close 3-2 win against Renfrew Ladies. Glasgow Girls and Women overcame a three-goal deficit to rescue a point at the Falkirk stadium, while Forfar Farmington beat Westdyke 7-3 in Aberdeenshire.

Bonnyrigg Rose have reclaimed the top spot in Barclays Scottish Women’s League One after a comprehensive 9-0 win over Dundee West, including five goals from Niamh Naysmith. Earlier, in-form Dunipace had beaten the former league leaders Armadale Thistle 5-2.

Inverurie Loco Works hosted Queen of the South in a hotly-contested game at Harlaw Park, with goals from Charlie Elliot and Vikki Riddell seeing off the visitors from Dumfries.

St Mirren reclaimed third in the table with a 8-2 win against Giffnock, and Airdrie Ladies leapfrogged Edinburgh Caledonia with a big 5-0 win in the capital.

In the regional SWFL, Central league leaders Dunfermline Athletic were held to a 1-1 draw at Broadwood by Cumbernauld Colts, Elgin City moved level on points at the top of the North league with Ross County after beating them 2-1, while Glenrothes Strollers and Bishopton maintained their leads at the top of the East and West league respectively with wins.
