Durham WFC start school visits

WSL 2 newcomers, Durham WFC, have been out and about delivering She Kicks calendars and promoting their Girls’ Soccer Festival in April.

Durham WFC players Caroline Dixon and Alex Saunders visited four schools (Durham Business College, Joseph Swann in Gateshead, Oxclose in Washington and Thornhill in Sunderland) to give out She Kicks calendars to PE staff and pupils.

They were also promoting the FA WSL as well as a girls’ soccer festival that will take place in Durham and is being organised by Durham WFC, together with club sponsor Vision for Education.

The players took part in a question & answer session and had a kick about with some of the girls as the club began their first steps into a new community program.

This will take coaching into North East schools and raise the profile of the girls’ and women’s game in the area. The North East leading teacher supply agency, Vision for Education. will be an integral partner in delivering this.

The festival will take place at the Maiden Castle site in Durham in early April and there will be a presentation to players at our first home game on April 17th, as we start an exciting journey in the FA WSL.

The players go out again soon, visiting schools in the Peterlee and South Durham areas.
