Central defender Neary is not expected to be back playing until pre-season, after damaging her ligaments in a 50/50 tackle before Christmas.
But with the Blades very much among the title-chasers in the East Midlands Premier Division and through to the League Cup quarter-finals, manager Dan O’Hearne has swiftly moved to plug the gap with two former United players.
Nat Froggatt (29), formerly at Steel City Wanderers, returns after a spell out of the game, while her former defensive partner Christina Skull (31), ex-Chesterfield and Sheffield Wednesday, is back after a period in France and initially takes up a role in central midfield.
“It’s great to be back in the red and white again,” said Skull “It’s so good to see how the club is progressing and seeing the squad becoming stronger and stronger. Dan has stuck by the girls through thick and thin and the hard work is paying off. I hope to be part of further progression and hopefully help in gaining promotion back to the level where the club rightfully belong.”
Experienced player Rachel Ruddach added about the signings: “It’s a great morale-boost to the squad after losing Rosa. Two massive characters who bring both height and experience to the team.”
The duo, pictured above, made their comebacks in the Sheffield & Hallam County Cup win at Steel City, whilst United have also signed two younger players in Sheffield Hallam University students Pheobe Dunne and Holly Fowler, taking the total number of new signings to four.
