DORCHESTER DETERMINED TO WIN DORSET TITLE BACK

We spoke with Dorchester Town manager Darrin Chutter, with his side further spurred on to win the Dorset League after missing out on the County Cup this week.

SK: There’s still a battle on for the title isn’t there, despite your 100% record?

DC: We came into the season with a lot of people away from the club expecting us to come third, so it is good to be in pole position at this point. We know Portland as champions from the 2014/15 season will be fighting to the end to retain their title and newcomers Wimborne Town have proven to be worthy title contenders.

SK: Are you spurred on by having gone within a couple of points last season?

DC: After only losing once last time around and not losing to the eventual winners, it was disappointing to lose our title by a couple of points. It has certainly made the ladies work harder in training and games and they are determined to win it back.

SK: Has competition been better in the league with team numbers very much on the up?

DC: The ten-team league this year has seen teams improving and although there have been some high-scoring matches, there have also been some really good battles. Every team has won at least one game and given a couple more seasons, and with the right players coming along, I can see it being a much closer and competitive league.

SK: Surely Becky Narramore’s incredible goalscoring feats must be breaking some records?

DC: Becky Narramore has had her best goalscoring season this year, racking up 80 goals so far in only 11 league games. Although it cannot be confirmed, the Dorset FA don’t believe it has ever been beaten. Of course, this is an impressive tally but she has not done this alone. She has great support from the team around her.

SK: Do you hope to be accepted back into the South West Regional League?

DC: If we were to win the league this year, it is unlikely we would look for promotion. The cost and travel time required when in the higher division make it difficult for many of my players to commit. This has been the case for a few teams from this league in the past.
