Doncaster Sign Sophie Walton

Following the end of Walton’s contract at Notts County, she put pen to paper on a deal with the Belles ahead of the up coming WSL Spring Series.

Doncaster say that the 27-year-old jumped at the chance to join the club and admits it’s the perfect move for her.

Integral to the club is the Belles’ family club philosophy, which also attracted the midfielder who feels the support to her family life is key.

She told doncasterroversbelles.co.uk: “Doncaster Belles are a massive club to me and I can’t wait to get started.

“I’ve known Emma [Coates] for a long time and have played with her so I know her well. I’ve heard great things about her coaching and management style and I’m looking forward to working with her.

“With my little boy coming along, the locality and ease of getting to training made this a no-brainer really.

“Hopefully I can come in and help the team but also help the fantastic young players we have at the club reach their potential.”

On the signing of Walton, Coates added: “Sophie is a player I’ve known for some time and can bring a lot of WSL 1 experience to the team.

“I’m delighted to be able to bring her to the club and she will bring quality to a number of positions.”
