Derry City ended a run of 13 straight defeats in the 2023 Sports Direct NIFL Women’s Premiership with a 4-2 victory away to Ballymena United.

Laura Connolly’s opener for the Candystripes was cancelled out by Shelley Stothers but Ellie Redden restored the advantage before the break.

Clarah Quigg and Hannah Hopkins both struck for Derry to put the result in the basement battle beyond doubt, with Chelsea Miller netting a late second for the hosts.

Although City are still bottom of the table, they are now within two points of both Ballymena and Mid Ulster.
