Manchester City have announced that England international left-back Demi Stokes has signed a new three year contract with the reigning FA Women’s Super League champions.
Stokes joined City in January 2015 and in that time has made 76 appearances for the club, scored four goals and been part of the squad that qualified for the UEFA Women’s Champions League, won the 2016 FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup, went undefeated to become FA WSL champions that same year and won the SSE Women’s FA Cup for the first time in 2017.
Speaking about her contract extension, Stokes said:
“The last three years at Manchester City have been unbelievable. Having the opportunity to train at top class facilities and work with a passionate and knowledgeable coaching team has really helped me grow as a player.
“It’s an amazing team to be a part of, everyone supports each other and I think that’s been an important part of our success. When we play, we play for our teammates and all the Manchester City fans whose support has been invaluable. I can’t wait to see what the next three years will bring as we keep challenging on the domestic and European stages.”
Manager Nick Cushing added:
“Demi is an exceptional player with an incredible work ethic. When she gets on the pitch, it doesn’t matter if it’s training or a match, she always gives 100 percent and I’m delighted she will continue to be a part of our team.”
