West Bromwich Albion’s Craig Nicholls has been voted FA Women’s Premier League Northern/Southern Division Manager of the Month for December.
Despite a penalty shoot-out defeat in the FAWPL Cup Quarter-Final at Charlton Athletic, the Baggies say their boss guided them to two impressive Northern Division victories over Fylde and Newcastle United respectively.
Albion scored ten goals in three games, conceding just two in the process.
Nicholls said on receiving the award: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be named manager of the month for December and my thanks goes to all players and staff at West Bromwich Albion FC Women.”
Meanwhile, Jenny Sugarman was announced as the FAWPL Division 1 Manager of the Month, with her Loughborough Foxes side top of the Midlands table and on course for an immediate return to Northern Division.
They ended November with a 7-1 rout of Rotherham United and although they only played twice this month, thirteen goals were scored without reply.
Nine were put past Solihull in a league fixture, before they pulled off a 4-0 success away to Leicester City Women Reserves in the Leicestershire County Cup.
