Darlington FC to reform women’s team

Darlington FC are entering a women’s team in the newly-formed Durham FA League Division 2 for the 2021/22 season.

“We are delighted to take this step forward and we feel the time is now right to re-establish a contemporary Women’s team that can compete with others in our region,” the club’s John Vickerman told darlingtonfc.co.uk. “It’s important that the Women’s team will be an equal part of the club from the outset and our coverage and social media will reflect this.”

Manager Shaun Mackenzie said; “I am delighted to take the role and would like to thank the club for the opportunity. Since I came to the club two years ago to help coach within the girls’ section, it has always been our vision to have a Darlington FC Women’s team and create a pathway for the girls to carry on playing, giving them the opportunity to transition from youth football to women’s football. I believe it’s a huge step forward for the club and look forward to building a squad ahead of the new 21/22 season.”

Darlington FC Women will be holding open training sessions soon. E-mail  girlsdevelopment@darlingtonfcacademy.co.uk for further information, or contact Shaun Mackenzie on 07935122160.
