Dario Vidošić demanding a strong performance from Brighton against Manchester City

Dario Vidosic is hoping that his team takes the game to Manchester City on Friday night

Manchester City host Brighton on Friday night and Seagulls head coach, Dario Vidošić, is demanding a strong performance from his team.

Brighton drew their WSL opener 0-0 against Aston Villa last weekend in the league’s only stalemate.

Dario Vidošić wants more from Brighton

Although they drew a blank against Villa, there were definitely positives to take from Brighton’s first game of the season.

However Manchester City represent a completely different type of opposition this weekend.

“They’ve got a new manager, so it’s different ideas and ways of working,” Dario Vidošić stated. “They’ve had the full week to prepare and I’m sure they’ve continued to work. Naturally, their identity will become more and more clear as the weeks go on.

“For us, we just take it from what we’ve seen and what we expect. We know some of the individuals quite well from their history in the league and their national tendencies, so we will need to be a little bit smart with how we collate that all together and the ideas that we have.”

The Seagulls have played City 14 times during their history – winning just one game and losing 12.

Despite the difficulty of this weekend’s test, Brighton’s boss wants to take the game to City on Friday.

“We want to go there, play our brand and try to be the dominant team. We take a lot of experience and confidence from last year, we want to play them toe-to-toe. I have no doubt that it’ll be a great game of football and it’s one I’m looking forward to.”

City lost their first game of the season but they couldn’t have had a much tougher start with a 2-1 loss to the champions, Chelsea.

Vidošić respects new City boss

Dario Vidošić has been Brighton manager for just over a year now and he has got a feel for the league by now.

City’s boss, Andrée Jeglertz, on the other hand was only appointed this summer after leaving the Norway international team.

Vidošić believes his opposing manager has already brought some of his tactics from Denmark to the City team.

“The idea is quite similar.” He said. They want to possess the ball, they want to play in the opponent’s half. When they don’t have the ball, it’s high-press, so they want to try and win the ball back as quickly as possible.

“We’ve seen little different things that they’re doing but I think a lot of the players that were there, they still have those tendencies.

“It’s a little bit hard to judge them from one game, so we will prepare as best we can for what will no doubt be a tough clash.”

City and Brighton will both be keen to get their first win on the board in Friday’s game, but betting sites have priced the visitors as clear favourites.
