Palace were just a little off the Southern Division title race in their first year at that level.
Winger/forward Whinnett was full of praise for what Palace have achieved:
“Palace were a team that so many people kept an eye on last season. Coming up, in the form they were in, they really made an impact on the league and set their stall out. Some of our closest games at Spurs were against Palace and it was clear that this is a club going places.”
Vastly experienced ‘keeper Lynch commented: .
“Palace are a quality set-up, and have a clear ambition. To have the opportunity to be a part of this is terrific – I cannot wait to get started. There is a really good feel to the place and I know many of the squad from previous teams we have played in over the years, so it feels just right.”
Eagles manager, Dean Davenport was clearly happy with the signings,
“These two are typical of the players we are keen to bring in. Players who have that experience, ability and the continued desire to succeed. We have a really good squad and we have all learned plenty in our first season at this level, so we are keen to move forwards and form a squad that is not only able to get us to the next level, but be a part of keeping us there. This is a great bit of business for us and shows our intent.”
“We have, not through our immediate choice, lost a couple of players, but are also looking at some other, quality options. Our aim is to always add quality and build around the fantastic squad we have.”
