The striker known as ‘Crooksie,’ leaves the club as the all-time record holder in both appearances (165) and goals (82), and will be a huge miss for the team going forward.
Stacy broke into the Newcastle United first team back in 2005/6 making 15 appearance in the FA Premier League Northern that season. A year later she appeared in 22 games scoring once.
In the next two years, Newcastle arguably had the best run in the club’s history finishing fourth in the FAWPL North twice in a row. Crooks was an integral part of this, making 38 appearances in the black and whites stripes, netting seven times in the two year span.
The 2009/10 season saw Stacy begin to become a legitimate goal threat, recording 13 goals in 16 games before the disastrous relegation season of 2010/11. Stacy only played 8 games that season as Newcastle went down to the Northern Combination.
Although all stats weren’t recorded during the 2011/12 Combination season, we know Stacy netted a whopping 39 goals in the campaign as Newcastle earned promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
2012/13 saw Stacy reach double figures again in the Premier League, scoring 10 goals in 20 appearances, earning a move to the FA WSL 2 with Durham WFC.
After a season at New Ferens Park, Stacy Crooks returned home to Newcastle for the 2014/15 season, despite another season of struggle for the black and whites, Crooksie netted 13 goals in 21 appearances.
Stacy has decided to retire from playing but is keen to stay involved in football and will mould the future of women’s football as a coach with Bedlington Bulldogs.
