The final of the BBC Essex-sponsored competition was played at AFC Hornchurch on Thursday 13th April and the underdogs from two divisions beneath went ahead after only 9 minutes, with a looping header from Paris Smith into the far corner.
Basildon levelled 10 minutes later when Amy Nash’s free-kick was flicked home by Hannah Porter.
They then went in front on half-time as Nash clipped an excellent cross to the back post for Karissa Rodney to head in.
Three minutes after the restart, Hayley Piggott rifled an angled shot into the far top corner to bring Town back on level terms.
The final was eventually decided 8 minutes short of a shoot-out, with a headed goal from Paige Wakefield.
