City Will Head to USA During Pre Season

Manchester City have announced that they will be going Stateside in preseason.

The 2016 WSL title winners will travel to the United States for the first time for their 2018 pre-season tour, during which they will compete in the inaugural Women’s International Champions Cup.

Taking place from 27-29 July at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, the 2018 Women’s International Champions Cup will see Manchester City go head-to-head with Paris St Germain (PSG),  North Carolina Courage an one other side, which is yet to be confirmed.

Prior to the tournament, City will travel to Portland, Oregon from 21-26 July for a training camp.  As part of the camp, girls from the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) will have the opportunity to train with the team.

Ahead of the pre-season tour, Gavin Makel, Head of Women’s Football, Manchester City commented:

“Everyone at Manchester City is looking forward to this summer’s pre-season tour to the US. Competing in an elite tournament is the best preparation for what will be another action-packed season for us.

“We are delighted that the tour will also allow us the opportunity to meet and connect with our growing fan base in the US, whose support is important to us all.”

Steph Houghton, Manchester City Captain, added:

“I can’t wait to visit the US with Manchester City. I’ve previously competed in America at the She Believes Cup and am always humbled by the incredible support of the fans out there. To have the chance to visit the US with Man City and meet all of our fans is something I know the whole team is looking forward to.”

Manchester City say they will also host a selection of fan and community events during the pre-season tour. Details to be announced in the coming weeks.
