City Close in on 10 in a Row

Two goals from Sarah Crilly and a first ever City goal for young midfielder Sam Kerr ensured a comfortable three points for the reigning Champions.

Head Coach Scott Booth fielded a much changed team to that which started midweek in Sweden in the Champions League, with one eye clearly on the return leg on Thursday at the Excelsior Stadium.

A number of young City starlets got their opportunity and they didn’t disappoint as City raced to a two goal lead in the first 13 minutes as Crilly converted a Clare Shine cross and Sam Kerr finished brilliantly after good play from the away side (pictured left by Tommy Hughes).

As City hit a two goal lead, Booth made even more changes but the dominance of City continued and Crilly hit her second goal of the game 12 minutes after the restart after being set up by Carla Boyce at the edge of the box.

Commenting on the win, Booth said, “We are happy with the three points today. The girls were really professional throughout. Our younger players who took part – Hannah Coakley, Sam Kerr, Carla Boyce, Kodie Hay and Brogan Hay, all deserve a special mention for coming in and delivering.”
