Chelsea have loaned 20-year-old England youth international Charlotte Wardlaw to Glasgow City for the whole of the 2023/24 season.

Wardlaw can play in defence or midfield and signed her first professional contract with the Blues ahead of the 2021/22 season, in which she helped Liverpool return to the WSL.

Returning to the Reds for a second loan spell for the first half of last season, she then spent the rest of the campaign at Lewes.

Head coach Leanne Ross told glasgowcityfc.co.uk“Although only 20 years of age, Charlotte arrives on loan to us from Chelsea with a wealth of experience from the English Championship, WSL and England youth & U23 national teams.

“As someone who can play in a variety of defensive positions, and play them very well, Charlotte will not only increase competition for places but will also add to the strength and depth of our squad for the season ahead.

“In playing a variety of positions, it is evident Charlotte has a good range of technical skills and tactical understanding of the game. Added to this, her bravery and tenacity will strengthen our defensive capabilities.”
