Chelsea beat Leicester City 6-0 and Arsenal won 4-0 away to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Chelsea thrashed Leicester City to move within a point of leaders Manchester United with a game in hand.
Guro Reiten gave Chelsea an early lead with a well-directed connection on Pernille Harder’s cross.
It was 2-0 in under 20 minutes, Erin Cuthbert pouncing to win possession and take the ball round Janina Leitzig to net.
Harder struck twice in a ten minute spell approaching half time.
Lauren James fired into the net before the hour mark and Jelena Čanković completed the scoring, leaving the Foxes two points off the bottom but now with a worse goal-difference than Reading.
Arsenal also took control in the opening minutes if their Wednesday evening fixture, Stina Blackstenius with a quick fire brace, on the way to overtaking Manchester City on goal-difference to edge back into the Champions League places.
Blackstenius also headed Katie McCabe’s cross onto the bar, before Frida Maanum nodded home Noelle Maritz’s cross and turned provider for Victoria Pelova to score inside the near post.
Brighton remain five points above the relegation place with two games to go.
