Crawley Wasps had a special guest of honour at training last week – Chelsea Ladies full-back Hannah Blundell.
The England Under-23 international was there to present each of Wasps’ Under-12s, Under-11s and development squad players with a brand new kit bag, containing their own Wasps training gear, plus balls and cones for them to hone their skills in their own time.
Blundell was joined by Anne Tickner, head of HR at Thales Crawley, the club’s main sponsor, whose backing proved invaluable in producing the bags and training kit.
Eastbourne-born Blundell, a regular in the Chelsea Ladies first-team who has played in two Women’s FA Cup finals and the Under-20 Women’s World Cup, was also presented with a Wasps shirt as a token of the club’s appreciation for her visit.
She said: “It’s always exciting to get new kit – I even get excited when we get new kit at Chelsea!
“It’s nice to see so many girls so happy and a girls club growing as big as it is.
“It’s great as well to have sponsorship like Thales – it’s nice to see that they want to get involved in women’s football.”
