Chelsea set a new record on Wednesday night with their win against Manchester City, making their seventh consecutive League Cup final.
Despite making seven finals the Blues don’t hold the record for most wins in the competition.
Chelsea make record League Cup final
No team has as much success in the League Cup than Chelsea.
The Blues have been almost unstoppable in the competition and this year’s final will be their seventh in seven years.

Sonia Bompastor’s team entered the League Cup at the quarter final stage due to their Champions League status. Chelsea thrashed relegation-threatened Liverpool 9-1 in the quarters but faced a much trickier prospect in the semi final.
One goal was enough to beat City but Bompastor insisted there was no time to celebrate, with a crucial WSL game against Arsenal up next.
The Blues will face Manchester United in this years final. Despite reaching this stage of the competition a record seven times, Chelsea have never met United in the final.
Bompastor’s team will be favoured to win the competition they have so much experience, with the final coming up on March 15th.
Who has won the most League Cups?
Chelsea may be one of the most dominant teams in England, but they don’t have the best record in the League Cup.
Of the six finals Chelsea have made in the last six years the Blues won just three.
Their 50% win rate in the competition is largely down to Arsenal’s success in the League Cup.
The Gunners have won seven titles from 10 appearances in the final. Chelsea won’t meet their biggest rivals in the final this year though as Arsenal were knocked out by Manchester United on Wednesday.
Only three teams have ever come out on top in the League Cup. Manchester City are the final team to have won the competition, with their last title coming in 2022.
