Liverpool 1-2 Chelsea
Chelsea went top of the league on Wednesday when making it three straight wins with victory at Liverpool.
Ji So-Yun gave the visitors the lead on 15 minutes when the Reds lost possession on the edge of their own box.
Caroline Weir forced Hedvig Lindhal into a stunning save and Sophie Ingle then hit the Blues’ post.
But Chelsea doubled their lead just after the hour mark when Gilly Flaherty dived to head in Beth England’s corner.
Enmma Hayes’ side held on for the 3 points despite losing Lindahl to injury and having Niamh Charles set up Weir to score past substitute keeper Becky Spencer.
Reading 1-2 Arsenal
Reading made their debut at their new Wycombe home when hosting Arsenal, which saw the Gunners get back to winning ways.
Jordan Nobbs gave Arsenal the lead when she fired towards the top corner from 22 yards and Grace Moloney could only help it on its way.
Reading were fortunate to go into half time only one behind when Vicky Losada saw her effort saved, before Natalia was adjudged offside when she tucked the ball into the net.
Dominique Janssen doubled the tally as she headed into the bottom corner on the hour but the Royals replied through Emma Follis and might have levelled but Lauren Bruton headed agonisingly wide in the final minute of normal time.
Birmingham City 2-1 Doncaster Rovers Belles
Birmingham got off the mark with a 2-1 success in the basement clash with Doncaster, in which City came from behind to lead by the break.
Natasha Dowie got an early goal via Alex Gummer’s free-kick but Freda Ayisi headed home from a Kerys Harrop cross in the 15th minute.
Melissa Lawley completed the scoring with only half an hour played, her deflected cross-cum-shot going in off the far post.
London Bees 2-1 Millwall Lionesses
London Bees banked their first win when sending Millwall to their first defeat with a late penalty.
The hosts were ahead on the counter-attack after just nine minutes, Jo Wilson running through to beat Sarah Quantrill.
The Bees’ Nicola Watts and Lionesses’ Fliss Gibbons both hit the woodwork before Naomi Cole’s free kick brought Millwall level.
But in the second minute of injury-time, Wilson was brought down in the box by Quantrill and Watts converted.
Yeovil Town 2-0 Oxford United
Yeovil sent Oxford to a fourth successive loss with a 2-0 scoreline at Huish Park, thanks to goals in the last 17 minutes.
The Glovers’ Sarah Wiltshire struck the post from distance and Natasha Knapman was dnied by a reflex save from Hannah Cox, before Nicola Cousins powered home a corner from Wiltshire.
Nadia Lawrence hit an Oxford post before Annie Heatherson added a second goal deep in injury time, when she turned home a cross from Wiltshire.
