Liverpool 0-0 Manchester
Fourth-placed Liverpool brought an end to Manchester City’s perfect start by denying them a seventh win on the trot, although they are still yet to concede a single goal.
Liverpool began well but Caroline Weir shot straight at Karen Bardsley, the visitors quickly responding as a 20-yard Nikita Parris effort forced Siobhan Chamberlain into a full stretch tip round the post.
Liverpool were happy to soak up the City possession but on 34 minutes a shot from Jane Ross was deflected wide before Toni Duggan blazed over the bar from the resultant corner.
Both sides had a bit more purpose after the break and Jennifer Beattie fired a 25-yard volley wide on 55 minutes for the league leaders.
Bronze then drilled a left foot shot straight at Chamberlain, before forcing the Liverpool stopper to tip a fiercer effort over the bar moments later.
The best chance of the match arrived for Liverpool 12 minutes from time, when Rosie White headed a corner from Laura Coombs onto the bar.
