Chelsea made it four straight wins to move within 3 points on leaders Manchester City with a game in hand, following victory over Liverpool in a goalfest.
Katie Zelem fired Liverpool into a first-minute lead, only for the hosts to respond with four goals by the break, three of them involving Fran Kirby.
She sent Karen Carney in to round the keeper and score, before netting a spectacular solo effort to turn the game in Chelsea’s favour. in
Kirby turned provider when teeing up Drew Spence and then Carney’s through-ball led to Eniola Aluko smashing a shot past Siobhan Chamberlain.
The Reds hit back as Caroline Weir converted from a free-kick and Emily Lundh came off the bench to strike.
But Hannah Blundell’s cross was deflected into the path of Kirbyto score and Spence rounded off the scoring with a fierce half-volley.
Notts County 0-1 Birmingham City
Birmingham City moved level on points with third-placed Arsenal and leapfrogged Notts County, when defeating them 1-0 away.
City’s Sophie Baggaley tipped Angharad James’ 30-yard strike around the post, pulled off a point-blank save to deny Ellen White and kept out two more chances in the ensuing goalmouth scramble.
But Emily Westwood took advantage of some hesitant County defending to get on the end of Jo Potter’s inviting free kick and nod the ball over home keeper Carly Telford in the 69th minute.
Oxford United 1-0 Millwall Lionesses
It’s back-to-back wins now for Oxford after they got the only goal against a Millwall side that had previously beaten them 5-3 away March. United now have an attractive game at home to Birmingham City in early July.
Hannah Cox tipped away Ashlee Hincks’ inswinging corner for Millwall, Riva Casley twice going close for Oxford in the first half, Naomi Cole and Fliss Gibbons threatening just before the break for the Lionesses.
Jess Frampton’s powerful header was cleared off the visitors’ line but Georgia Timms came on and took moments to head home when Ini Umotong’s shot was parried by Sarah Quantrill.
Shefield FC 3-1 Durham
Sheffield FC avenged their league defeat to Durham by knocking them out of the Conti Cup with to late goals and set up a home 1st Round tie against Bristol City.
Emma Johnson fired the hosts in front from the edge of the area around the half-four mark.
Jordan Atkinson struck the bar for the Wildcats, who equalised with 12 minutes remaining when Rachel Lee smashed home from 25 yards.
Sheffield FC retook the lead through Chelsea Flanagan with 5 minutes remaining and Hannah Dale’s free-kick then sealed the win.
Watford 0-2 London Bees
London Bees did not let a 2-0 advantage over Watford slip as they had in the league meeting, instead winning through for a massive game on March 23rd at home to Chelsea.
The Bees scored on half time as Howellsplayed in Ashleigh Goddard to poke the ball home.
The lead as doubled just 3 minutes after the restart, Goddard winning the ball and crossing for Nikki Watts to finish.
Jo Wilson later won the a penalty when brought down by Sahara Osborne-Ricketts but Watts’ spot-kick was well saved by Hornets’ keeper Gillett.
