Celtic say that with almost all of last season’s squad already committed for the new season, Manager David Haley will have a strong squad to mount a real challenge, including Sarah Crilly who joined recently from SWPL reigning champions Glasgow City.
Sarah Ewens, fresh from winning a Scottish Cup medal with Hibs in November, is very much looking forward to teaming up with some old friends.
She told to the official Celtic website: “I played with Kelly Clark in Scotland U-17 and U-19 squads, so I’ve known her for a long time.
“At Spartans I played regularly with Kerry Montgomery, and I think we played well together, so I’m looking forward to linking up with Kerry again. Heather Richards, too, was a team-mate when she played for Hibs.”
And talking of her decision to move to the Hoops, Sarah said: “Celtic Women’s team has constantly been on the ‘up’ over the past two seasons and is getting better all the time. They have some great players, and I think I’ll fit in well. I hope the team will push on again this coming season and I hope we can win the league title sometime soon.
“And I’m looking forward to watching Brendan Rodgers’ team here at Celtic Park, too. It’s a wonderful stadium – the best in the country.”
