Late Drama See Hibs Win
Chances were hard to come by as holders Hibs played league champions of the last ten years Glasgow City.
Noelle Murray, Lauren McMurchie and Brogan Hay went close for City and Kodie Hay’s header was blocked out, while Hibernian’s Amy Gallacher was denied by Savannah McCarthy.
Megan Foley headed wide for City in extra-time, with Cailin Michie and Abi Harrison threatening for Hibs.
With a shoot-out imminent, Harrison was booked for diving after going round keeper Lee Alexander, before later turning in a Siobhan Hunter shot for a dramatic winner.
Celtic Fightback To Beat Spartans
Spartans made the perfect start with a fifth-minute opener as Colette Cavanagh broke away to shoot past keeper Megan Cunningham.
Kirsty Howat would have levelled had Rachel Harrison not made an excellent save but 10 minutes before the break Howat did score via Darcy McFarlane’s through ball.
Spartans were hit by second-half injuries to Ronaigh Douglas and Alana Marshall, the latter sustaining ankle ligament damage.
Celtic took advatnage to net a 75th-minute decider, as Suzanne Mulvey got in behind the defence to slot home.
The final will be played at Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld on 21st May.
Accies Off The Mark
In the one league game, Hamilton Academical not only claimed their first points but thrashed Aberdeen 5-1 in the basement battle to rise two places.
Hamilton led 1-0 at the interval but Lori Gardner’s goal was added to by Mhairi Lyle, Emma Lyons, Danni Connolly and Gillian Inglis.
