Cardiff Met Win UWCL Opener

There was only one goal in it at the interval though, with Ellie Sargent having been set clear on the right to fire back across the keeper and into the far corner.

Sofia were a little more threatening after the break but the Archers got a second with 20 minutes to go, when Erin Murray crossed for Robyn Pinder to slot home.

Sofia battled to get back in the game but were blocked out by the hosts, who had three players on the deck after one corner kick.

The game was made safe as Aimee Todd came off the bench to bag a brace, scoring on 76 minutes and then with just 2 minutes to play.

ZFK Spartak Subotica and Breidablik tied the evening match 1-1. Berglind Thorvaldsdóttir scored on 69 minutes for the Icelandic side but American Alex Quincey equalised in added sime for the Serbians.

Thursday’s Group 3 double-header at Cynoed Stadium sees Breidablik and Sofia first up at 2pm, with Cardiff Met then facing Spartak Subotica at 6pm.
