Cardiff City and Wrexham Women into Bute Energy Welsh Cup Final

Cardiff City continued their defence of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup with a stunning goal, while four-goal Wrexham joined them in the final.

Fiona Barry got the only goal just after the hour mark with a long-range strike, as holders Cardiff City won away to The New Saints and booked their place in next month’s final. The game at Newport County’s Rodney Parade is on Sunday 27 April, with a 5.15pm kick off.


Wrexham saw off Adran North leaders Pontypridd United, after leading 3-0 at the break. Abbie Ibbenden’s early goal was followed by an own goal from Lucy Jones and Brooke Cairns making it 3-0 inside the half-hour. Ibbenden got her second not long after the interval.

Rhyl 1-2 Felinheli (Att: 42)

Third-placed Felinheli had to come from behind to win at sixth-in-the-table Rhyl. Rebecca Bannister’s opener was cancelled but by Llywela Edwards, Jordanne Greenough’s goal two minutes into the second half proving to be the winner.
