Tottenham Hotspur continued their defence of the cup with a 4-1 result over Crystal Palace. They took just 14 seconds to score, as pressure from Wendy Martin saw the ball fall for Nikita Whinnett to finish. The same combination brought the second after  minutes and the favour was returned by half time, with Martin heading in. Roschelle Shakes pulled one back but Bianca Baptiste then completed the scoring.

Cardiff City made the trip to Liverpool Feds, where Stoke City had come unstuck last week but the Welsh side won through by two goals to nil.

Kit Graham fired Charlton in front on 19 minutes as West Brom failed to clear their lines but the Baggies were back on level terms on 33 minutes when Amy Dicken followed up Leigh Dugmore’s effort that came back off the bar. There was no further addition to the score in normal time and in the added 30 minutes the Addicks forced goal-line clearances with successive corners but the tie eventually went to penalties. Charlton profited 4-2 in the shoot-out, with Grace Coombs converting the decider.

Blackburn progressed at Chester le Street, although Lynda Shepherd’s opener was cancelled out with a penalty on the hour. Ella Toone thought she had quickly restored Rovers lead but it was ruled out. It was 12 minutes from time that Jess Holbrook made it 2-1 and deep into added time when Saffron Jordan intercepted a backpass to score and seal the win.

In the Plate, Keynsham Town took Leicester City Women to extra-time before bowing out 3-2. A Sophie Domingo double had the visitors 2-0 up but Keynsham halved the deficit straight after the restart and then levelled in the last 15 minutes. Shauna Cossens grabbed what proved to be the winner after 108 minutes, with Keynsham missing a golden chance to force penalties.

Actonians ran out 3-0 winners over Radcliffe Olympic in West London.

Huddersfield hit hosts Tranmere 7-0 to ease into the final four of the Plate. Emily Heckler struck three times, Kate Mullin bagged a brace, while Danielle Biglin and Katie Nutter added one each.

Luton Town’s tie with Lewes fell to a waterlogged pitch.
