A chocolatier from Cadbury has built a chocolate sculpture in tribute of Hannah Hampton, who is set to take over as England’s number 1 for the Euros this summer.
Hannah Hampton will represent England at Euro 2025 this year and one chocolatier has decided to dedicate a touching sculpture to the goalkeeper.
Dawn Jenks, who works at Cadbury, built the 12-inch tribute of a football with Hampton’s gloves shaped around it, built entirely out of chocolate.
Jenks said: “The creation required patience, precision, and a lot of passion – everything Hannah brings to the game, too! As a fellow Brummie, it means a lot to celebrate a local hero in such a unique – and tasty – way.
“It’s been a joy to create something that celebrates Hannah’s talent whilst bringing some chocolatey football cheer.”
The sculpture took 16 hours to build and will feature at Cadbury’s World Bournville, which is just down the road from where Hampton grew up playing football in Birmingham.
Hannah Hampton takes over as England’s number 1
Not only is Hannah Hampton set to make her Euros debut this summer, but the new number one is expected to play every minute for the Lionesses as long as they are in the tournament.
Sarina Wiegman confirmed well before the Euros squad was released that Hampton would be England’s first-choice goalkeeper going forward in place of Mary Earps, who decided to call time on her international career following the announcement.
There was certainly no love lost between the two goalkeepers though, as Hampton discussed her respect for Earps ahead of Euro 2025.
Hampton first broke into the England team after her move to Chelsea from Aston Villa and after signing with the current WSL champions in 2023, the 24-year-old played in most of the Lionesses’ Euro qualifiers.
Last season in the WSL Hampton won the Golden Glove, as Chelsea finished the season unbeaten to make history in becoming the first team to ever complete the feat across 22 games.
The Chelsea and England shot-stopper couldn’t be in better form coming into the Euros this year and she will be brimming with confidence as the Lionesses look to retain their European Championship from 2022.
