Manchester City’s Bunny Shaw has continued her stellar season, picking up her first player of the month award in a dominant WSL campaign.
Shaw’s player of the month award was the star’s first since 2023.
Bunny Shaw setting the standard
Manchester City’s success this season has come hand in hand with their striker tearing up the league.
Bunny Shaw is no stranger to scoring goals in the WSL, having won the golden boot in the past two seasons.
City’s killer striker looks set for a third consecutive award this year. Shaw is already on 12 goals this season from 11 appearances – seven more than anyone else in the league.
December was another unstoppable month for the 28-year-old and she has finally been rewarded for her efforts.
Stand-out in December 🙌

Shaw kicked off her month with two goals and an assist against Leicester. The Jamaican international played her part in all three goals against the Foxes and almost single-handedly secured the 3-0 win.
Some may have found it hard to top a performance as good as Shaw’s against Leicester, but again the forward showed her consistency one week later.
City stuffed Aston Villa 6-1 in their final game of 2026. Shaw netted four against Villa – reaching the 100 goal mark for Manchester City in record time.
With six goals in December there was no question that Shaw would win December player of the month.
The City star beat her teammate, Vivianne Miedema, to the award. Shaw’s partner up front scored one and picked up two assists in City’s thrashing over Villa.
Shaw leading City charge
While the player of the month award is huge for Shaw, the striker will have a much bigger prize on her mind entering 2026.
Manchester City lead the WSL by six points as the second half of the season gets underway.
The Cityzens look formidable on all fronts and they are without a doubt favourites to win the league ahead of Chelsea.
Sonia Bompastor’s team have been disappointing this season and the six-time reigning champions have left the door open for their rivals to end the dynasty.
There is of course still a long way to go in the WSL campaign and with 11 games left to play after the winter break anything could happen.
One thing is for sure, if Bunny Shaw keeps scoring at the rate she did before Christmas then City will be very hard to stop this year.
