An amazing evening at the Devon FA HQ in Newton Abbot saw all-conquering Buckland Athletic of the South West League Western Division edge Premier title-chasers Marine Academy Plymouth on penalties, watched by a crowd of 332.
MAP opened the scoring just before the break through left back Jodie Chubb but Kirsty Caunter fired in the equaliser inside the hour mark.
Sam Drewery slotted home to restore the lead on 77 minutes only to see Corinne Potts send the game into extra-time with a second leveller on 94 minutes.
Drewery was denied a goal for MAP in the following half-hour and Laura Gough twice went close for Buckland but penalties were required to decide the winners.
Drewery stepped up first but her spot-kick was saved by Abigail Bond and then Potts put away Athletic’s first effort.
Nerves certainly seemed to get the better of the penalty takers as incredibly all the next seven were missed, including one against the post for Buckland’s Caunter, before eventually Bond blocked Kate Bowden’s effort with her legs to secure the cup.
