Bristol Lose ‘Invaluable’ Yorston To ACL Injury

Former England international and current Bristol City defender Corinne Yorston was removed from pitch in the first 5 minutes of play as a result of sustaining major knee trauma in a recent WSL fixture against London Bees.

Yorston was later referred to Bristol Hospital for further investigation after being reviewed by Bristol City FC’s medical team. The resulting scans have now revealed that Yorston has suffered a left knee anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture with possible signs of cartilage trauma.

As a result of these findings Bristol City Women’s medical team have since referred Yorston to Mr Jonathon Webb a lead orthopaedic consultant in ACL reconstruction and sports medicine.

Manager, Willie Kirk, commented on losing Corinne for the remainder of the season: “As you can imagine, losing Coz is a big blow for the team but even more so when you have such a young squad…..her experience is invaluable.

“However, having gotten to know her as a person these last few months, I know that she will still be a massive influence this season and her objective of helping the club to promotion to WSL1 has not changed.

“I have no doubt whatsoever that she will be back on the pitch as quickly as she can and will leave no stone unturned during her rehab. Her professionalism will shine through during this period, and I look forward to having her available on the pitch next season.”
