Bristol City wing-back Mari Ward has celebrated her 18th birthday by signing her first professional contract with the Barclays Women’s Super League side.
She made her debut as a 17-year-old last January, playing 90 minutes in a 3-2 win over Coventry United and earning the Pick of the Match award.
Since then, she has gone on to make another 25 appearances, including winning a penalty against Leicester City on her WSL debut in October.
Ward told bcfc.co.uk: “I’m delighted to have signed my first professional contract. I’ve gained so much experience over the last year and I’m excited to continue my development with this club.
“We’ve got a big second half of the season to come and I’m looking forward to that challenge and beyond.”
