Bristol City lead the Barclays Women’s Championship by three points following their 1-0 midweek win at Lewes.

The Robins had been just goal-difference ahead of nearest title rivals London City Lionesses, before playing their game in hand.

The only goal came just before the hour mark via an Ashley Hutton corner, Abi Harrison firing into a crowded box and Shania Hayles prodding the ball home.

Moments before, Vicky Bruce’s header from a Harrison corner had been headed off the Lewes line by Ellie Mason.

Rhian Cleverly was close to turning in a Paula Howells cross for the hosts in the first half, while Kenzie Weir was denied by City keeper Fran Bentley late on.
