Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Colombian international defender Jorelyn Carabali from Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro.

She played in all five games as Colombia reached the quarter-final of the World Cup, and also helped her country to the Copa America final.

The 26-year-old played for three Colombian clubs – Orsomarso, Atletico Huila and Deportivo Cali – before joining Atletico Mineiro .

Head coach Melissa Phillips told brightonandhovealbion.com: “We’re delighted to have Jorelyn with us. This is her first taste of football in Europe, but we saw from her performances in the World Cup this summer that she has so much to offer in terms of her ability and mentality.

“We look forward to working with her, integrating her into the squad and helping us achieve our targets this season.”
