Brighton Secure First Signing For Spring Series

Brighton say tha the attacking midfielder joins the Seagulls after making her first-team debut for the Blues in the WSL1 and also played for England in both the European Championships and World Cup last year.

Russo was joint-top goalscorer at the European Championships in Belarus, and scored once for the Lionesses en route to reaching the quarter finals of the World Cup in Jordan.

Albion’s interim manager George Parris told seagulls.co.uk, “Alessia Russo is a player that I’d seen score hat-tricks against us when she was at Chelsea, so when she became available to sign, we had to move fast to secure her services.

“She’s a natural goalscorer, has the ability to play anywhere in midfield or upfront and will be a wonderful addition to the squad.”

Russo is eligible to make her Albion debut in The SSE Women’s FA Cup 3rd Round tie against AFC Wimbledon on Sunday 5th February.
