The match was played between Staffordshire League side Bradwell Belles Ladies and the club’s coaches.
Chairman Rob Pilkington said: “We had an excellent turn out and raised nearly £600 towards the new kit for the Ladies.
“We have all agreed to make this an annual event, this season was for the Ladies who have had their money taken from them by a local business who was going to supply a new kit for them. The next match, we will be donating the money to a local charity. This is to be decided but it will probably be the Stroke Association, as one of our coaches died from a stroke last year aged 23 years old.
“Although the Ladies lost 7-3, there was an overwhelming support from everyone within the club and the community, a big thanks to Shekicks also for the support along with a couple of other groups who helped out on the day. Also, we have been approached by a local Public House who have asked to meet up this week with a view to sponsoring the Ladies next season.
“The day was put together in a matter of weeks, all the publicity and chasing was done by myself and a couple of the players, but after a long day it was worth every minute of those phone calls and emails, etc, to see everyone smiling again.”
