She prefers her centre-midfield position for the full-on involvement, which has led on one occasion to a ‘Terry Butcher look’.

1. What is your full name and age? Sam Leigh McGovern, Age 17

2. What do your team mates call you on the Football Field? Sam or Govner

3. Who do you play for and which team do you support? I play for Middlesbrough Ladies and support Tottenham Hotspur

4. Are you left or right footed? Right

5. What is your fave position and why? Centre-Midfield – always involved in the game and it is chaotic

6. If you could meet a player (male or female) who would it be? David Beckham

7. If you could play on the same team as anyone who would it be? Lionel Messi

8. What colour shirt would you most like to play in? Red

9. Can you describe yourself as a footballer, in three to five words? Enthusiastic, determined, composed, confident and disciplined

10. Do you have you any superstitions? No

11. What is your favourite pre-match or post-match music? Pre-match (in the car) – The Fratellis (I’m not sure the girls would approve!) Post-match – Biffy Clyro

12. What is your favourite post match treat?  My Nana’s Sunday dinner

13. Who is your biggest fan? My Dad – he got me in to football from a young age and travels to every game no matter where it is in the country.

14. Who are your heroes? Jill Scott

15. What is the funniest thing that ever happened to you in football? Clashed heads with another player against Leeds United Centre of Excellence and looked like Terry Butcher with the head bandage!
