Bolton make FAWPL Reserves Cup semis at first attempt

League debutants, Bolton Wanderers are through to the FAWPL Reserves Cup semi-finals, as are Portsmouth and Stoke City, who both found the net five times.

Wanderers one win from final

Competition debutants, Bolton Wanderers have made the semi-finals, thanks to a second-half Emma Pilling goal at Huddersfield Town.

The result was in complete contrast to their previous league meeting, in which Bolton were thumped 8-1 at home by the Terriers.

Although neck and neck in mid-table in the Midlands Division, Stoke City stormed to a 5-2 victory over Derby County.

Ella Pemberton and Emily Curteis (twice) scored in the opening 17 minutes, as City raced into a 3-0 lead over Derby.

Amber Denney soon replied but Lucy Ridgeway got the Potters fourth on 32 minutes.

Roisin Kivel rounded off Stoke’s goals 6 minutes into the second half, with Georgia Lawton blasting home a late second for the Rams.

True-Blue nets treble

Portsmouth were 5-1 winners over Crystal Palace, despite earlier losing at home to them in the league.

Charmaine True hit a hat-trick, Kayleigh Tonks and Emma-Jane May also scored for Pompey, while Sandra Martin got the goal for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Coventry United’s match with C & K Basildon is rescheduled for next Sunday 11th February, with a 2pm kick off at Coventry University.
