Bolton Wanderers Ladies will keep their faith in interim boss Tom Cunniff but they aren’t closing the door on the prospect of a new manager.
Myles Smith and assistant coach Megan Campbell were sacked by Bolton in a shock move at the beginning of October.
Tom Cunniff was the only surviving assistant after Bolton sacked their first-team coaches.
The former Wanderers under-18 manager has taken over as interim manager and it seems he could fill the role after a good start to his campaign.
Speaking about the vacant manager position, Wanderers CEO David Ray insisted he has full trust in Cunniff.
“We are not going to rush into anything,” Ray said. “Tom has got an opportunity to show what he can do, but that doesn’t mean we are not going to go down the route of finding a replacement. Both options are open and we’ll see how it plays out.
“He has certainly made a good start and we’re in the FA Cup first round for the first time ever, so it is all feeling very positive.”
Cunniff has kicked off his managerial career with three wins in a row for Bolton Ladies.
Wanderers thrashed Gateshead in an FA Cup qualifier before putting five past Tranmere in the league. Their latest win came against Bury which Bolton won 2-0 last weekend.

What next for Bolton Ladies?
Despite a shock change in management, the Bolton CEO insisted that the club still fully supports its women’s team.
“We are heading in the right direction, and both Myles and Megan contributed towards that journey.” Ray continued. “We just decided it was time to make a change. And change happens.
“The funding for the women’s team remains unchanged, that’s not going anywhere… We remain completely committed to the women’s team’s success. It has been part of the club as a whole.”
While the top league’s break for an international break this weekend, Bolton face off against Ponteland United Women this Sunday in the next round of FA Cup qualifying.
