Bluebirds and Briton Ferry into FAW Women’s Cup semi-finals

Cardiff City FC and Briton Ferry Llansawel are the first two teams through to the FA of Wales Women’s Cup semi-finals.

Lisa Owen opened the scoring for Cardiff City and they went in two up after a Phoebie Poole penalty. Evie Hughes scored direct from a corner, with Megan Saunders, Lily Billingham and Hollie Smith later adding one apiece.

Cardiff Wanderers’ cup run came to an end against Briton Ferry Llansawel, who struck twice in the opening quarter of an hour through Lowri Baker and Lucy Powell. Ela Roberts made it 3-0 in the second half, Jade Crofts pulled one back but Lowri Ridings and Olivia Townsend then added one each for the visitors.

The semi-final draw will be made today (Monday).

Cascade 3-1 Pontardawe Town

Cascade fought back from a half-time deficit to defeat Pontardawe Town and go level on points with leaders Briton Ferry. Catryn Cook’s goal in just the second minute of the game had Ponty ahead but Hannah Moger, Jess Pascoe and Bethan Lloyd all replied for the hosts.
