Blackburn United Lift Scottish Division 2 Cup

Both sides went into Wednesday’s final with 100% records in their respective divisions but it took Blackburn United just 4 minutes to open the scoring, Nicole Norris put through on goal to slot the ball past the keeper.

Bayside – in only their second season together – were back on level terms within quarter of an hour, having lots of possession they forced a foul in the box and the penalty was put away convincingly by Pamela Livingstone.

Blackburn found themselves repeatedly thwarted by Angela Comrie in the Bayside goal during the second half and with no further addition to the score, extra-time was required.

Seven minutes into the extra half-hour and substitute Jade Farquhar restored United’s lead from Emma Curson’s through ball.

Shannon Mulligan made it 3-1 with 9 minutes remaining, powerfully heading home a corner from Farquhar,

Claire Thomson immediately pulled one back for Bayside but Blackburn were not to be denied a fifteenth straight victory of the season, as they ended up 3-2 winners.
